PRAYER
DIARY
For SAT-7 and the Middle East
July 2023
On the set of SAT-7 KIDS programme
La Fiesta
Dear Friend,
Welcome to your Prayer Diary for July.
I hope it helps you make time each day to pray
for SAT-7 and the Middle East and North Africa
(MENA).
Some pages within offer general prayer points for
SAT-7 and the region, whilst others focus on specific
themes. In this issue, you’ll have the chance to pray
about the Bible, and Sudan – which, following a
recent bout of violence, is in desperate need of our
prayers.
As well as daily prayer points, we also have a
powerful article to share with you – turn to page 10 to
find out how Persian-speaking viewers are receiving
Bible training online. You can find more articles and
the latest news on our website:

.
Thank you so much for your prayers!
In His love,

DANIEL FROM TÜRKIYE
Join viewer Daniel from Türkiye in his prayer for his
family: “Please pray for my wife and children who are
not yet believers, that they too may see the truth.”
MONDAY 3 JULY
CHRISTIAN UNITY
“In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each
member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:5).
SAT-7 works with Christians of all denominations in
the MENA. Pray for unity amongst the MENA Church.
TUESDAY 4 JULY
LA FIESTA
La Fiesta,
subtitled “Sing with us” (pictured above
left), teaches catchy worship songs and music. One
young viewer shared: “In
La Fiesta
, I liked how we
were learning stories about Jesus by singing songs
about him.” Praise God that children are learning
about Jesus in fun and memorable ways.
WEDNESDAY 5 JULY
THE GULF
This year, SAT-7 plans to produce more programmes
for areas which are currently underrepresented on
SAT-7, including the Gulf. Pray that these plans will
come to fruition.

JULY 2023
FOCUS
THURSDAY 6 JULY
THE BIBLE
At his coronation, King Charles III was gifted a
Bible with the words: “Receive this book, the most
valuable thing that this world affords.” Over the
next few days, let’s praise God for His precious
Word, and give thanks that SAT-7 is making the
Bible accessible to people across the MENA.
FRIDAY 7 JULY
BIBLE TRANSLATIONS
According to Wycliffe Bible Translators, around
1 in 5 people worldwide still don’t have the Bible
in the language they know best. Pray for ongoing
translation efforts and give thanks that the Bible has
been translated into the main languages of the Middle
East – Arabic, Farsi and Turkish.
SATURDAY 8 JULY
BIBLE TEACHING ON SAT-7
Many Christians in the MENA don’t have access to
churches, training or Christian resources. Give thanks
for Bible teaching programmes on SAT-7 that explain
the Scriptures to them.
SUNDAY 9 JULY
PROVIDING RESOURCES
SAT-7’s viewer support teams send digital Bibles
and Christian resources securely to any viewers who
request them. Praise God that last year, teaching
resources were accepted 10,510 times.

MONDAY 10 JULY
HANY FROM LEBANON
Hany, a Syrian man living in
Lebanon, got in touch with many
misconceptions about the Bible.
Our viewer support team sent him
a copy of John’s Gospel and gently
answered his questions. Hany
replied:
“My heart is at peace
because of these beautiful and
divine words. They teach us how
to choose between right and
wrong, renew our mindsets,
and learn the way of life. God’s
words are a salve to our hearts.”
Give thanks for the power of His
Word in Hany’s life.
TUESDAY 11 JULY
TEACHING THE BIBLE TO CHILDREN
Give thanks for the many shows on SAT-7, like
Bible
Heroes, Bedtime Stories
and
Church4Kids
, that are
teaching children the stories and significance of the
Bible. Ask that young viewers will grow in love for
Jesus as they learn more about Him.
WEDNESDAY 12 JULY
HIDDEN BIBLES
In some of the countries where SAT-7 works, such as
Iran and Afghanistan, being found with a copy of the
Bible – even a digital copy on a smartphone – could
lead to punishment or even death. Pray for boldness for
believers to keep reading despite the dangers.
THURSDAY 13 JULY
FREEDOM TO READ
“I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your
word” (Psalm 119:16). Thank God that we can read
the Bible in freedom and safety, and ask forgiveness if
you have taken this for granted. Ask that He will give
you renewed passion to read His living Word.

PRAYERS
FRIDAY 14 JULY
BEHIND THE SCENES
Give thanks for all the staff who labour behind
the scenes to ensure SAT-7 broadcasts faith-filled
programming 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
SATURDAY 15 JULY
WOMEN IN THE MENA
SAT-7’s vision for women and girls is to see them
realising their God-given value and dignity, to make
their voices heard and to foster strong, secure and
loving families. Pray that this vision will become a
reality across the MENA!
MONDAY 17 JULY
FINANCES
“My God will meet all your needs according to the
riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
Give thanks for all those who give financially to meet
SAT-7’s needs and enable the ministry to flourish.
TUESDAY 18 JULY
QUALITY TIME
New SAT-7 KIDS show
Quality Time
encourages
Arab teenagers to spend “quality time” with God.
Pray that it helps young viewers build the good habit
of spending daily time with God and bringing their
lives before Him.
SUNDAY 16 JULY
TONIA FROM LEBANON
We have peace in the face of
adversity because Jesus is
with us and can protect us. He
says in the Bible, ‘Do not be
afraid, for I am with you.’”
Give thanks that Tonia knows
God’s peace in her life.

PRAYERS
WEDNESDAY 19 JULY
LIBYAN PRISONERS
Several believers in Libya have been taken into
custody recently after being accused of apostasy and
proselytising. Six have been given death sentences,
and many have not been heard from since. Pray
urgently for the release of Christian prisoners in Libya,
for peace and strength for their relatives, and for
safety for believers who are living in fear.
THURSDAY 20 JULY
MIDDLE EASTERN ORIGINS
SAT-7 ARABIC has filmed two new programmes,
Christ the Eastern Man
and
We Are The Arabs
, that
focus on Christ’s Middle Eastern origins. Pray that
these programmes will challenge MENA viewers’
misconceptions of Christianity as a ‘foreign’ religion.
FRIDAY 21 JULY
SAT-7 UK TEAM
Pray for SAT-7’s UK office today. Pray God’s blessing
on their activities, and ask that God will fill the team
with energy, focus and creativity as they make SAT-7’s
work more widely known in the UK.
SATURDAY 22 JULY
DAANESH IN AFGHANISTAN
Join the prayer of Daanesh, a believer in Afghanistan:
“Our prayer is that the Lord will touch the heart of the
people of Afghanistan, that the situation in the country
will calm down, and that we will be able to build a
church and worship the Lord alongside our brothers
and sisters.”
SUNDAY 23 JULY
CHURCH SERVICES ON SAT-7
For believers living out their faith alone, watching a
church service on television can be a lifeline and help
them feel part of a wider Christian community. Thank
God for live church services from across the MENA
that are broadcast on SAT-7 every week.

SUDAN
JULY 2023
FOCUS
MONDAY 24 JULY
SUDAN
Sudan is one of the 25 countries
where SAT-7 broadcasts, and
has been in a civil war for
46 of the last 70 years. The
country hit the headlines again
in April when fighting broke
out between the two main
factions of the military. Let’s
turn our prayers to this war-
torn nation, and especially
lift up Christians who are
vulnerable to persecution.
TUESDAY 25 JULY
SUDANESE REPRESENTATION
Pray for more opportunities for Sudanese
representation on SAT-7. Ask that viewers in Sudan
will find comfort, hope and joy through SAT-7’s
Arabic broadcasts.
WEDNESDAY 26 JULY
CHURCH UNDER PRESSURE
In 2023, Sudan ranked at number 10 in the World
Watch List of hardest countries to be a Christian. Pray
that the Sudanese Church will remain firm under trial
and know the prayers, support and love of the global
body of Christ.
THURSDAY 27 JULY
END TO FIGHTING
On SAT-7 ARABIC programme
You Are Not Alone
,
Sudanese pastor Philemon Kassan said: “If the
conflicting parties can hear me, we want to tell them
to stop this war. There are no winners, and they must
hear the voice of wisdom and think of the Sudanese
people who have suffered for years and need
peace.” Praise God that SAT-7 is giving a voice to
Sudanese Christians and join Pastor Hassan in his
prayer for peace.
JULY 2023
SUDAN
FRIDAY 28 JULY
CIVILIANS
Pray for civilians who have been caught up in the
fighting. Ask that in times of such suffering and
instability, many will turn to God.
SATURDAY 29 JULY
SUDANESE REFUGEES
Sudanese refugees in Egypt often face racial
discrimination and social marginalisation. SAT-7 has
been sharing the stories of Sudanese people who
have had to flee the latest violence on a programme
called
Another Angle
. Give thanks that viewers have
been responding with compassion and pray that
attitudes towards refugees will soften.
MONDAY 31 JULY
PRAYERS FOR PEACE
Join the prayer of a SAT-7 viewer: “Lord, we ask that
you cover Sudan. Cover its people and give it peace
and goodness. Give it hearts that rule righteously.
Make peace everywhere in Sudan.”
SUNDAY 30 JULY
PRAY FOR ELISSA
Elissa got in touch via our SAT-7
Worship Facebook page, which
shares Arabic Christian music videos:
“I am a woman from Sudan. I
am from a different religious
background. Your Facebook page
is really beautiful. I love the songs
you post; they touch my heart.”
Praise God that He is speaking to
Elissa through music and ask that
this will be the start of her journey
towards Him.
VIRTUAL BIBLE
TEACHING
FOR
ISOLATED BELIEVERS
A new SAT-7 PARS initiative is gaining momentum
among Persian believers in need of Bible-based
support and encouragement. Bible teaching
sessions hosted on Zoom, held weekly, are
proving invaluable to individuals who struggle to
find biblical community or discipleship elsewhere.
“I am really grateful for the excellent teaching
sessions which have refreshed me and given me new
strength,” said Afarin,* a session attendee from Iran.
“You don’t know how much you have blessed and
encouraged me.”
With the aim of helping each person move forward
in their faith and go deeper in their relationship with
the Lord, the sessions begin with sung worship before
moving onto a discussion topic. These have included
praying and fasting, spiritual maturity, and faith in
action. Sessions are designed to impact daily life and
always centre around a Bible passage.
Attendees – who range from new believers to those
who have been following Jesus for a few years
– have felt encouraged to read God’s Word for
themselves and ask honest questions. The subsequent
discussions have made various positive impacts: some
attendees have requested counselling; some have
told friends about the sessions; one woman even
committed her life to Jesus!
A man from Afghanistan called Dalir* has been
attending the sessions for months. His first message to
us revealed the serious danger he and many Afghans
face: “The situation here in Afghanistan is very difficult
for believers, and if the Taliban find out about us,
they will certainly kill us.” Nevertheless, Dalir has
continued to follow Jesus bravely and keeps in regular
contact with SAT-7 PARS staff. In one message he
said, “I was very blessed by your teaching on the
Trinity. It was excellent. Many of the questions I had
have been answered.”
There is high demand to join
the group, but also some
obstacles. “At present about
15 [people] are joining,”
says Omeed Jouyandé,
SAT-7 PARS Communications
Officer. “There is greater
demand – we originally had
116 people who wanted
to join – but the internet
connection in Iran has
weakened and this is a work
in progress. We hope the
situation will improve and we
will be able to engage larger
numbers of people in the
classes.”
The internet issues are not coincidental. Believers in
Iran have been dealing with government interference
– including internet outages and app restrictions –
for a while now. But having served Persian viewers
for 21 years, SAT-7 knows how to devise creative
workarounds. Staff have been sending audio
recordings from the sessions to those who are not able
to join live.
Dalir is one of many to have benefitted from the
persistence and passion of the SAT-7 PARS team.
“Thank God for all the employees of SAT-7 PARS,
who work day and night for the glory of God. You are
servants who share God’s message with others, and
you are God’s plan to bring the Gospel to the world.
You dear friends make the church grow.”
