Tearfund Latest Prayer Points

Dear Friend,

‘Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!’ (Revelation 19:5–7)

We may not be completely sure of what the vision set out by the writer of Revelation means in its fullness, but the overwhelmingly wonderful reminder is that our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice in that perspective as we approach the throne with our prayers.

As the news this week has been full of heatwaves, the climate crisis and conflict, we are encouraged that we can pray, asking God to move in ways that are beyond what we can achieve in our own strength.

Restoration, rebuilding and resolution

Today, we’re asking you to join us in lifting up the uncertain situation in Lebanon, where repeated attempts to elect a president (a role traditionally reserved in Lebanese parliament for a Maronite Christian) have failed. We pray for peace and a resolution there and we’re sharing an uplifting story of peacebuilding through young people building friendships.

We’re also continuing to pray for those affected by the flooding in India and for millions of people in Mali who are in a terrible situation because of conflict.

Thank you for praying with us. Your prayers matter.

Pray with us

As the scripture in Revelation 19 above says, let’s start today by praising God. Join us in taking a few moments to rejoice and to give him glory for his greatness.
