In April, Gunar Sahari, Lifewords Indonesia Director took a “mobile mission” to Balikpapan where he trained 15 pastors how to use Lifewords resources to reach unreached people groups in East Kalimantan. “Every month more than 5,000 people from other provinces come to this region looking for new jobs, because in 2024 East Kalimantan will be Indonesia’s next new capital,” says Gunar. He and his team hope to train many more pastors, Sunday school teachers, church leaders, and seminary students how to share the gospel, so that many who live in Kalimantan will hear the good news of Jesus.
The team in Indonesia are also continuing to train volunteers to serve with Lifewords Kids ministry. “Four years ago, I joined the training in Jakarta learning how to use The Visible Story (TVS) and the flipcards,” says Firman, one of the volunteers. “During the training I realised that these resources are very useful. Many people came to Jesus because they listened to Bible stories from TVS. I am committed to using TVS and the flipcards, and to training others in how to use them too.”
“I joined the training when I was studying at Pelita Dunia seminary,” says Sakaria, another volunteer. “After the training, Pastor Gunar gave me several booklets before I went to Kalimantan. Last year I started ministry in East Kalimantan and these booklets really helped me to share good news with others. Lots of people listened as I told the Bible stories, and many of them asked for booklets because they want to share good news with others.”

Give thanks for the training that took place in Balikpapan and for the opportunity that church leaders have to reach people with the gospel. Pray that many lives would be changed as people hear God’s Word and respond to it.
