PRAYERS
AUGUST 2023
TUESDAY 1 AUGUST
TODAY NOT TOMORROW
SAT-7 ARABIC programme
Today Not Tomorrow
broadcasts live from a mobile set on the back of a
truck, which travels from village to village in Egypt
teaching people about gender equality. Give thanks
for this unique and ambitious show, and ask that it will
help raise awareness of women’s rights.
WEDNESDAY 2 AUGUST
PRAY FOR SAYYED
Sayyed, an Arabic viewer, got in touch with us on
Facebook to say: “I shared the Lord with a friend, and
he received Jesus as his personal saviour. We are
now the only two believers where I live.” Pray for joy
and strength for Sayyed and his friend.
THURSDAY 3 AUGUST
GREEN SCREEN
SAT-7 PARS recently
installed a new green
screen system in one of
their studios (pictured left),
which has revolutionised
virtual production. Give
thanks for advances in
technology which help
our studios create high-
quality programmes more
efficiently.
FRIDAY 4 AUGUST
PRAY FOR YAHYA IN ALGERIA
Yahya, from Algeria, told us: “In dreams, I saw myself
standing before people holding the Bible in my hands
as I gazed upon a huge cross and a church. I started
seeking and looking until I found the way of truth. But
all churches are closed where I live.” Give thanks that
SAT-7’s viewer support team was able to offer Yahya
one-to-one discipleship.
GENERATION TO GENERATION
AUGUST 2023
FOCUS
SATURDAY 5 AUGUST
GENERATION TO GENERATION
“One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4).
From the youngest to the oldest, SAT-7 has
programmes for everyone – and the generations
are learning from each other, too. Over the
next few days, let’s pray for strong and healthy
relationships between different generations, and
that Jesus’ name will be made known across the
MENA, now and for generations to come.
SUNDAY 6 AUGUST
27 YEARS OF SAT-7
SAT-7 has now been broadcasting in the MENA
for 27 years. A generation of children who grew up
watching SAT-7 are now adults, and many have
families of their own. Praise God for SAT-7’s longevity
and for this second generation of viewers!
MONDAY 7 AUGUST
YOUNG PRESENTERS
Some of SAT-7’s children’s programmes are hosted
by teenage presenters. Pray that these presenters will
walk closely with Jesus in order to be positive and life-
giving role models for the younger children watching.

TUESDAY 8 AUGUST
PARENTS ARE ASKING
SAT-7 TÜRK parenting programme
Parents are Asking
(shown above) airs live once a week on Facebook
and YouTube, responding to parents’ burning
questions. Give thanks for parenting programmes like
this on SAT-7, and ask that the show will help Turkish
parents and carers raise their children well.
WEDNESDAY 9 AUGUST
CHILDREN OF NEW BELIEVERS
Pray for first-generation Christians who are now
raising their children to know about Jesus too. In
societies where they may not be able to go church or
even meet any other Christians, ask that families of
new believers will remain steadfast in their faith and
find encouragement through SAT-7’s shows.
THURSDAY 10 AUGUST
MULTIGENERATIONAL HOUSEHOLDS
Families across the Middle East have traditionally
lived in multigenerational households, in which
older and younger generations live together as
an extended family. While at its best this results in
mutual care and support, it can also lead to tension
and resentment. Pray for wisdom for SAT-7’s viewer
support teams as they help viewers lovingly navigate
these sometimes tricky relationships.
AUGUST 2023
GENERATION TO GENERATION
FRIDAY 11 AUGUST
GENERATIONAL CYCLES
Families can easily pass down unhealthy and
damaging behaviours through the generations, such
as violence, abuse, anger or emotional repression.
Pray that through Jesus, families in the MENA will
break free from these generational cycles and learn to
relate to others with love and respect.
SATURDAY 12 AUGUST
INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY
Over 60 per cent of the population of the MENA is
under the age of 30, and SAT-7 wants to speak truth,
love and hope to this next generation. Today, on
International Youth Day, give thanks for the MENA’s
young people and ask that they will find hope and a
future in Jesus.
SUNDAY 13 AUGUST
RESPECT FOR THE
ELDERLY
In most Middle Eastern
cultures, elderly people
in the community are
typically held in high
esteem. Give thanks for
this cultural respect for
older generations. Pray
now for any older people
who may be feeling
lonely or overlooked.
MONDAY 14 AUGUST
PASSING ON THE GOOD NEWS
Daniel, an Arabic viewer, got in touch with SAT-7
KIDS to say: “You have greatly aided me as a
parent in teaching my children about Jesus and his
love for us. Thank you for bringing us delight.” Give
thanks that SAT-7 is helping parents teach the next
generation about Jesus!
AUGUST 2023
PRAYERS
TUESDAY 15 AUGUST
THE GATHERING
Give thanks for
The Gathering
, a Tunisian TV series
produced in Tunis that shares testimonies, locally
recorded worship, and Christian teaching. Ask that
God will speak to many Tunisians through the series.
WEDNESDAY 16 AUGUST
PRISONERS
ISONERS
Many Christians in the MENA, particularly in Iran,
suffer in prison for their faith. Pray that God will
protect them and fill them with the Holy Spirit so they
can witness boldly to those around them.
THURSDAY 17 AUGUST
ECONOMIES
While some Middle Eastern economies, like those in
the Gulf, are growing rapidly, several are struggling
or on the brink of collapse. Pray for those most
affected by economic instability – the poor and
vulnerable – and ask that God will provide for them.
FRIDAY 18 AUGUST
TAHMSAB IN IRAN
Pray for Tahmsab, a viewer in
Iran:
Greetings and may the
blessings of Jesus Christ the
Lord be on you. I find myself
under so much pressure that I
find it difficult to believe in any
God. I have been unemployed
for the last two years and
my prayers have no impact.
Please pray for me.”
AUGUST 2023
HEALTH AND HEALING
FOCUS
SATURDAY 19 AUGUST
HEALTH AND HEALING
“I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all
may go well with you, even as your soul is getting
along well” (3 John 1:2). Across the MENA, people
are hurting – physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Over the next few days, let’s pray for Jesus’ healing
touch in their bodies, minds and souls.
SUNDAY 20 AUGUST
NAGEH FROM SYRIA
Nageh from Syria got in touch to say: “My son was
sick with COVID-related complications in his stomach,
and some Christians prayed for him in Jesus’ name
and he was healed. I didn’t know what it was about,
but I think I understand now… He is the God who
heals.” Praise God for healing Nageh’s son.
MONDAY 21 AUGUST
OVERCOMING STIGMA
According to UNICEF, stigma and discrimination
limit the use of services for mental health issues, HIV
testing, and menstrual health needs. Pray for more
open conversations around these health needs to
break the stigma and bring about cultural change.
TUESDAY 22 AUGUST
HEALING HANDS
Today, lift up to the Lord anyone you know who is
sick, injured or in pain, and ask Him to heal them in
Jesus’ name.
HEALTH AND HEALING
AUGUST 2023
WEDNESDAY 23 AUGUST
MENTAL HEALTH
The Middle East is facing a mental health crisis,
with some of the highest global rates of depression,
anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Praise God that those who are struggling can find
a listening ear and godly advice through SAT-7’s
viewer support teams, and pray that more people will
find the strength to reach out.
THURSDAY 24 AUGUST
ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
According to UNICEF, only 53% of people in the
MENA region have access to basic health services,
with women and disabled people disproportionately
affected. Pray for swift changes in policies and
provision to ensure all have equal access to the
healthcare they need.
FRIDAY 25 AUGUST
HEALING HEARTS
Healing Hearts
is a new drama on SAT-7 KIDS
that helps children deal with trauma and everyday
stress. Pray that through the drama, Bible stories and
activities, children will be drawn to Jesus and find
hope and healing in Him.
SATURDAY 26 AUGUST
UNHEALTHY LIFESTYLES
Several countries in the region demonstrate some of
the highest rates of physical inactivity, obesity, and
diabetes in the world. Pray for better health education
to help people live healthier lives.
SUNDAY 27 AUGUST
TRYING TO CONCEIVE
Rafet from Turkey told us: “Hello, we couldn’t have
children for 10 years, but we were patient and
prayed and the Lord helped us to have a child. Praise
the Lord!” Pray that the Lord will be near to those who
are trying and struggling to have children.
AUGUST 2023
HEALTH AND HEALING
MONDAY 28 AUGUST
EARTHQUAKE TRAUMA
Many people in Syria and Türkiye are traumatised
as a result of February’s earthquakes. Henriette from
Syria got in touch to say: “I have huge fear because
of the earthquakes. I have been having serious panic
attacks. I cannot sleep at all and this is severely
impacting my life, health and kids. I’ve been praying
a lot day and night and nothing is helping.” Pray for
emotional healing for Henriette and other traumatised
earthquake survivors.
TUESDAY 29 AUGUST
DR BEE
Praise God for a new series of SAT-7
ACADEMY programme
Dr Bee
,
which shares health information in
bite-sized chunks, on everything
from common childhood illnesses to
nutrition. Give thanks that this vital
show is meeting people’s needs
and providing accurate, trustworthy
medical advice.
WEDNESDAY 30 AUGUST
HEALING FROM ADDICTION
Bahareh in Iran got in touch to say: “Please pray for
my son to be freed from his addiction. I don’t know
why Jesus is not healing my son, who is a Christian;
it was through him that I became a Christian. But I
am not giving up praying because I believe in the
love, power and goodness of Jesus my King.” Give
thanks for Bahareh’s faith and pray for her son to be
released from addiction.
THURSDAY 31 AUGUST
TRUE HEALING
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was
crushed for our iniquities; The punishment that brought
us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are
healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Praise Jesus that because
of His death and resurrection, we can receive the
ultimate healing of being made right with God.
RELEASED INTO WORSHIP
YUNUS’ STORY
Yunus, 26, recently joined SAT-7 TÜRK’s viewer
support team, where he helps and encourages
young Turkish viewers in their faith. But he didn’t
always know Jesus. Here, he shares his story
– from sin and shame, to being empowered to
worship through music and answer the questions
of others.
“Like the millions around me, I had no idea that
Christianity once thrived in Türkiye,” Yunus says. “My
beliefs were my identity. Even though God was far
above me and unknowable, I firmly believed that no
other truth was possible.
“When I was 16 years old, that all changed. I loved
music. I enjoyed playing flamenco guitar and then
studied classical guitar. I was good at it, spending
hours in practice. Music brought me joy. Then a
religious teacher I respected asked to meet with me.
‘Yunus, I have something to show you,’ he said. He
pulled out a book of our religious
writings, one that I greatly
respected. ‘You see here, it says
music is a sin, forbidden. You
need to turn from music, from
sin.’
“I remember the moment vividly.
I was greatly conflicted. How
could this be? How could
something as great as music be a
sin? But it was in one of my holy
books as absolute truth. For the first time, I began to
question all I believed.”
Yunus decided to do something he had never done
before: to read the religious writings. As he did, his
doubts began to grow, and so did his fear; he had
been warned of severe consequences if he doubted
the teachings. But the idea that the music he loved
was sin… it didn’t make sense.
So Yunus’ search for truth began. He was sure there
was a God who created everything,
including music. He contacted a
Christian society in Türkiye, where
the people gave him a Bible. As he
began reading it, he was stunned by
the words of Jesus, words of love,
life, and hope. He thought they were
the most beautiful words ever uttered
by human lips.
Yunus had two dreams in which he
called out to Jesus. Then one day,
he literally heard His voice: “Yunus, I
have been looking for you for years.
Why are you not accepting me?” Yunus believed at
last, and “suddenly, wonderfully, everything was
made new. I was born from above!”
Yunus found a church and began to grow in the
Lord, and he also started watching SAT-7 TÜRK. In
his newly discovered belief that music glorifies God
and is not a sin, he is now using his guitar skills as a
worship leader. And, as a technically savvy young
person, he also became an expert in social media.
Then his pastor told him that SAT-7 TÜRK was looking
for a viewer support officer.
Many of the young people getting in touch with SAT-7
TÜRK are from the same background as Yunus, and
are starting to ask questions. In his role, Yunus listens
to their struggles and encourages them by sharing his
story. He then can tell them, “I was once where you
are. I had the same conflicts, the same questions. I
understand.”
How could
something as
great as music
be a sin? I began
to question all I
believed.”
