Tearfund Latest Prayer Points
Dear Friend,
|
Restoration of relationships lies at the heart of our faith (and our work as Tearfund). Jesus came to walk among humanity to restore our relationship with God, and he modelled a way of answering life’s big challenges through love.
Whether it be through loving God, loving our neighbour or loving creation, the answers to poverty lie in this restoration. Tearfund calls it Integral Mission, and it means that, as we work to transform our world through following Jesus, we need to care for every aspect of people’s lives. In our prayers too, it is not only tangible needs – such as immediate provision of food and water – that we want to bring before God, but also things like emotional healing, as well as the restoration of creation.
‘Contagious love’
This week, our prayers cover a number of areas and we’ve included a video message for you from Cambodia asking for your prayers, as well as an uplifting story of how a family there has been changed through ‘contagious love’ (as Saren, whom the story centres around, describes it).

Pray with us
|
|
As we consider each situation, let’s take some time to pray in different ways this week.
Why not try:
- praying out loud in words about practical needs.
- praying for the climate by simply taking a walk in nature and allowing the beauty and divine order of creation to speak the wonder of God.
- praying for the emotional and psychological healing of people facing traumatic situations around the world by spending some time listening to worship music and asking the Holy Spirit to move your emotions to empathy.

National elections in Cambodia

|
In Cambodia, we work closely with 30 local churches and three Christian NGOs to support them in living out their faith in practical ways and in reaching out to their communities, mobilising local resources to overcome poverty. National elections will be held in a few weeks in Cambodia. Pray for unity among the people, and for the right leaders to be chosen.
The way we work in Cambodia is often through local churches in a process called Umoja (which means unity). Read a beautiful Umoja story of transformation through contagious love here.
You can also hear directly from Ponleu (one of our members of staff in Cambodia) in this video.

In recent weeks, hundreds of people have been killed, leaving behind a crowd of orphans and widows flooding the streets and camps for internally displaced people – especially in Plateau and Kaduna states. The Tinubu Government has just appointed new security chiefs. Pray for effective new approaches, sustained energy and God’s wisdom in handling security issues, and pray that Tearfund’s work will help people to begin to value human dignity.
In case you didn’t get to read it last week, here is some more information about the current situation in Nigeria.

Flooding in Pakistan

Pray for the country amid monsoon season as lives have already been lost this year. May God protect all against the potential hazards of heavy rainfall and floods. Ask God to provide adequate resources, infrastructure and preparedness measures to safeguard lives and livelihoods. Lift up all humanitarian and development workers, including our partners, who are still working to help communities recover from last year's floods. Ask God to comfort those who have lost their loved ones and for speedy recovery for the injured. Pray for wisdom and guidance for leaders as they manage and respond to potential disasters. May they make the best decisions for the nation's safety and wellbeing.

Zambakro in Ivory Coast is a village that has experienced significant changes and improvements since it has trained people and put into action Tearfund’s Church and Community Transformation (CCT) process. This week, pray that the wider community will see the transformation and join with the church programme.
