Tearfund Latest Prayer Points

Ephesians 6:18 tells us: ‘And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.’ Surrounded by difficult situations, we are reminded to come before God with our prayers – to bring our requests to him, on all occasions. To present to him our pleas for intervention.

As we do so, we remind ourselves that our God is mighty! He is able to move and to act. He is the God who created heaven and earth, and it is on his abundant mercy and power that we call.

Urgent prayers

Thank you for praying with us again this week as we lift up some of the pressing situations unfolding in places where we work – particularly the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, violence in Pakistan, and the aftermath of terrible flooding and landslides in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Join us as we encourage our faith by praying based on the words of Psalm 77:11–14:

Lord, we remember your deeds;

Yes, we remember your miracles of long ago.

We consider all your works

and meditate on all your mighty deeds.

Your ways, God, are holy.

What god is as great as you, God?

You are the God who performs miracles;

you display your power among the peoples. Amen.

Cyclone Mocha is set to make landfall between Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyaukpyu in Myanmar on Sunday as a severe cyclonic storm. Cox’s Bazar is home to the largest refugee camp in the world, with more than 1.2 million people living there. Pray that the cyclone will weaken significantly before then and that it will not cause further loss and trauma to the many there who have already faced so much hardship.

Pakistan is facing outbreaks of violence. Pray for our team, partners and all those affected; pray for their safety and security at this difficult time. Pray for a resolution to the situation quickly and for peace. Pray for all those most vulnerable in Pakistan who are already impacted by the worsening economic situation and the impending floods – pray for their safety and protection.

Flooding and landslides have caused hundreds of deaths and the loss of homes for thousands of people in both Rwanda <https://tearfund.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cd19eb0b2a74af14054950f15&id=3436e14c05&e=b67d6b82a4> and the Democratic Republic of Congo <https://tearfund.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=cd19eb0b2a74af14054950f15&id=07d15ac68b&e=b67d6b82a4> (DRC). Ask God for comfort and peace for those who have lost their families and their livelihoods. Pray for people affected to access immediate support and assistance – including essential things like food and clean water. Lift up Tearfund’s local partners as we find ways to respond.

In Uror County in Jonglei State, South Sudan, malnutrition is a major health threat to children under five. It’s caused by a lack of nutritious food, a lack of healthcare advice and facilities, and poor feeding practices. Pray for Tearfund’s work alongside UNICEF, providing health clinics to help advise mothers and treat children.
