500 Days

Dear Friends

Tomorrow marks 500 days since the start of the war in Ukraine. These 500 days have been marked with unspeakable terror for the Ukrainian people, with civilians being targeted in their homes, shops, and even colleges.

Thank you for all you are continuing to do to support those who are seeking to keep their children safe, rebuild their lives, and plan for the reconstruction of their nation after the war finally subsides. 

With your help, Sanctuary Foundation continues to play an important role in the preparations for the reconstruction effort. Last week, I had the privilege of hosting a Ukrainian ministerial delegation that was on a fact-finding mission looking at rebuilding the social care system after the war. This was a joy to facilitate, as it brought my experience as a foster carer and adoptive father, alongside my expertise in care reform into play with the work we have been doing with Ukraine.

To commemorate the 500th day of the war, I am sharing a video featuring the amazing author Yeva Skalietska, who came to the UK as a 12-year-old refugee.
