Transform Trade: Thriving communities.

This is why we created the Producer Fund: to ensure that, in difficult times, producer collectives can continue to grow and invest, so their communities can thrive.

Right now, many small and ethical businesses are fighting to turn a profit and keep going.

But the success of a producer-led business is not measured purely in sales or in profit, but by their impact on the lives of the workers and artisans, the growers and makers they employ, and all of their families.

We wanted to tell you more about one producer group who exemplify exactly what your donations to the Producer Fund - which will be matched until the end of April <https://transform-trade.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=742651e2cb92ae3a9ca13a3d9&id=b66a69ae2f&e=952e550679>  - can do for disadvantaged communities.

Meru Herbs, a women-run business in Kenya, sells organic teas, jams, and pesto sauces. Sally Sawaya, their managing director told us that:

“Everyone has a voice within the business and all the leaders are women we promote from within and give career opportunities which breathe life and ambition into this community."

Traidcraft was Meru Herbs' largest buyer, and their closure may affect as many as 1500 people.

Many businesses like Meru Herbs have been running for decades, quietly changing the face of trade and improving the lives of thousands of workers and artisans:

"When Meru first started, men took priority and women were left behind. Now our workers have their own bank accounts and their own money, they own land with their own title, and they’ve built better homes for their children."

The Producer Fund will support many more businesses like Meru Herbs - we cannot let them disappear.

To protect these businesses and their communities during this time of hardship, we need your help.

Donations to the Producer Fund will be matched pound for pound until the end of April up to a total of £40,000. Can you help us make the most of this opportunity?
