Iona Community At Glastonbury
(from www.lifeandwork.org)
The Iona Community, led by a team of volunteers along with Leader Ruth Harvey, will once again be at Glastonbury Festival this weekend.
The Community has had a presence at the Glastonbury for many years. Initially, the organisation was invited through a local priest and Community Member, David Osbourne, to create a safe and peaceful place for festival-goers.
Ruth Harvey says: “Iona Community Members have been creating an open, inclusive space at Glastonbury Festival for many years. People have started to expect us to be here. They come and update us on their lives; they find a little rest and companionship.
This is my first visit to Glastonbury. But the team tell me that we will meet people who want to talk about the music that has inspired them or their experiences of how they encounter the spiritual; as well as their hopes and concerns. Most are intrigued and ask us about the Iona Community. We’re anticipating all sorts of interesting conversations!”
The Iona Community team will be offering hospitality and welcome throughout the Glastonbury Festival weekend. The Iona Community space is located to the south of the festival site, opposite Unfairground, off the Railway Track. The what3words location is ///warm.wand.undercuts
