Scripture Union Scotland Newsletter
Dear Friend,
The P7s in my SU Group are buzzing about their end-of-school show and moving to high school, and are now proudly sporting their leavers' hoodies. Teachers and church chaplaincy teams can help support them and prepare them for this big change. Check out our MOVE resources below.
In my church our Holy Week offerings went towards helping local young people get to camp. Two boys are raring to go. Now 17 and 15, they have been attending every year since P5 and spoke to me recently about how excited they are - they can't wait for summer! Do you know young people who would love an SU Holiday? If parents can't afford it, could your church make it happen for them? We have two short video promos available to download from the Ambassadors webpage that could be shown in church.
Our Volunteers Department is very busy this month too, processing team applications and sourcing volunteers to plug the gaps. We need lots and lots of summer volunteers to resource our programme of SU Holidays & Missions and Magnitude. Might someone in your church be interested in joining a team?

MOVE comprises three short videos where Darren, Sarah and Mark explore the exciting new step of going to high school. The videos explore emotions, foundations and growth and are in line with Curriculum for Excellence. MOVE can be delivered by a classroom teacher or a chaplain or school volunteer. They are great resources for any church wishing to build relationships with a local school!

ACTION: Flag up MOVE to primary teachers at church. your local primary Headteacher, and your church leader if they are part of a chaplaincy team. See suscotland.org.uk/move.

SU Holidays have been booking fast for summer and we have over 1500 bookings! There are still spaces available. We'd love to see every event full, as this means yet more children and young people having fantastic fun this summer while exploring the Bible and having an opportunity to respond to the significance of Jesus. Here are some of the holidays that are needing extra promotion. Can you help?

Being part of a team is wonderful fun! Every summer 1100-1200 people volunteer their time to support children and young people at an SU Holiday, Mission or Magnitude. And they aren't all young - we have volunteers in their 90s! We are looking for male and female group leaders, ASN support, Cooks, Assistant Cooks, minibus drivers, general helpers. There's a space for someone in your church for sure!
|
|
ACTION: Many people are unaware of the volunteering opportunities there are with SU Scotland - we need your help to get the word out! Some companies actively encourage volunteering and could release someone who would be a great help! Singles, couples, families, all applications are welcome.
