Transform Trade: When You See It, You Know

When you see it... you know.

The answers to the biggest injustices in trade already exist - they're lived out everyday by producers around the world.

Organisations like Sadhna, a women's clothing cooperative in India, show that ethical business can be a transformational force for communities living in the most difficult circumstances.

For women like Tara Yadav (pictured above), the difference is crystal clear...

"Working with Sadhna, there is flexibility – we can work from home and look after the family. When I developed arthritis 15 years ago Sadhna helped me to move to work in the shop."

I was able to build this house with a loan from my self-help group. My husband soon saw the value of my work – and my children had a good education."

For more than 20 years Sadhna has been a positive force for change in Udaipur, India but that's not the whole story...

Because doing the right thing is never easy.

Many producer organisations have tremendous impact, but they also must compete with businesses who pay less, care less and profit more.

We set up the Producer Fund earlier this year to help the best ethical producer groups fight back. Thanks to your generous donations, work is already underway.

The fight for ethical trade continues

At the start of this year, the fair trade giant Traidcraft went into administration. But in their absence, the producers who have always powered the movement have continued to push forward.

Thanks to the brilliant generosity of people like you, work has started to strengthen producer groups at a time of great uncertainty.

Today we're sharing three of the brilliant plans taking place through the Producer Fund so you can get an idea of the difference your donations are making.

The truth is, ethical businesses like Sadhna are an exception to the norm - and we need to stand alongside them in a battle for survival and a battle for transformation.

That's exactly what your donations to the Producer Fund are doing - and we are so grateful for your support at this critical time.

Thank you,

Hannah and the Transform Trade team
