Now you are the body of Christ.
Something to read
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
- 1 Corinthians 12:27, from the full reading 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.
Something to think about
A few years ago I suffered a broken ankle. In an instant, I found myself unable to move around freely, and very limited in what I was able to do for myself.
We take our bodies for granted yet if something, however minor, affects one part of our body it can impact the whole!
The church is described as ‘the body’ of Christ’ and we are ‘members of it’. This reminds us that each part of the body, each one of us, contributes to the whole.
No matter how minor or insignificant we consider our part to be, we can either contribute to the body becoming more effective – or we can actually hinder its performance and make it less effective.
Something to do
Think about the other parts of the body we belong to, and how those folk impact us; how do we impact on them? Do we show that we value them?
Something to pray
Lord we thank you for our human bodies and for the way in which you have created us.
And how we thank you for the body that is your church, that you call us together to be your people.
How we praise you that you choose to use folk like us in your service.
