The promises of God are passed from generation to generation.

Something to read

You are the Lord, you alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. To all of them you give life, and the host of heaven worships you.

- Nehemiah 9:6.

Something to think about

Imagination is more than the impulse to create. It is the ability to see something that is not there, to plan, to hope, to empathise. Politics, social outreach and theology are all rooted in the imagination.

The stories of Nehemiah and the other prophets are part of the tradition in which we stand today.

At their heart is the recognition of God as creator and sustainer of life. The promises of God are passed from generation to generation ,and we stand in a long line with those who have gone before us – the host of heaven.

This sense of history can give us reassurance, but also invite us respond with imagination in our own time, and in our own place.

Something to do

Christian Aid has been using imagination and seeking transformation in the lives of people living in poverty for more than seventy years.

By supporting our work, you're standing in a long line of faithful generations, seeking justice and fullness of life in response to the love of God, the source of all life.

Something to pray

Creator God,
Set my imagination free
To weave a world
Of celebration, welcome and love
In which all people may have hope
In your name,

Amen.
