Put on the whole armour of God.
Something to read
‘Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armour of God… stand, therefore and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness… whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace… take the shield of faith.’
- Ephesians 6:10, 14-16.
Something to think about
The things we value can sometimes feel threatened by political and environmental change.
For a gospel of peace, the metaphors of armour seem surprising, but it can be useful to explore aspects of the power of God in whose strength we live.
As you start this week, where might you be called to stand firm with the shield of faith, belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness?
As a Christian charity, Christian Aid cares deeply. We listen, collaborate and find ways to give people power over their own lives. We inspire those with shared beliefs and values to join us and take action.
We are all stewards of God’s earth. We seek development that is sustainable. We proclaim a gospel of peace and justice.
Something to do
As we approach the harvest season in the UK, Christian Aid is taking inspiration from our sisters in Malawi who are stewarding God’s good earth harvesting Baobab juice.
Something to pray
Lord, I dare to dream of a world
where your truth spreads like wildfire
Ignite in me the will to fan these flames
That a new spirit of powerful collaboration
may transform our communities.
Amen.
