Bible Society: Reasons To Believe In The Power Of The Bible

‘If you look through my Bible, there’s only one verse that is underlined. It’s 1 Samuel 18.14, “And David had success in all his undertaking, for the Lord was with him.”

‘It was a verse given to me when I went to university. It lived with me through my university time. And it continues to speak to me now.

‘I had a house mate who was much more able intellectually and she worked much harder than me. But we both came out with the same result. I put it down to the fact that God had blessed me because I spent a lot of time at Christian Union, at church, going to early morning prayer. By putting Christ first, he blessed me in other areas of my life.

‘Some time ago, I was with my daughter in the park. She wanted to jump off the climbing frame and said, “You are going to catch me, aren’t you Daddy?” I caught her. I felt God saying to me, “It’s time for you to jump and trust me.” So, I left my job as a maths teacher, after 14 years in the job. I hang onto this verse daily. Whatever I do now, I believe that I can have success because of what God is doing in my life.

‘I want to do everything! Tutoring is paying the bills, but I want to do voice over work and I’ve set up a studio in my house.

‘I’m fifteen months in and I haven’t doubted God’s ability to provide for me and I haven’t doubted his blessing on my life, and so far, he has provided. I know God’s got his hand on my life, which is a wonderful comfort and blessing, really.’

‘Os edrychwch trwy fy Meibl, dim ond un adnod sydd wedi’i danlinellu. 1 Samuel 18.14 ydyw, “Yr oedd Dafydd yn llwyddiannus ym mhopeth a wnâi, ac yr oedd yr Arglwydd gydag ef.”

‘Roedd yn adnod a roddwyd i mi pan es i’r brifysgol. Bu’n byw gyda mi trwy fy nghyfnod prifysgol. Ac mae'n parhau i siarad â mi nawr.

‘Roeddwn yn rhannu tŷ gyda ffrind oedd yn llawer mwy galluog o ran deall ac roedd hi’n gweithio’n galetach o lawer na fi. Ond daeth y ddau ohonom allan gyda'r un canlyniad. Credais fod Duw wedi fy mendithio oherwydd imi dreulio llawer o amser yn yr Undeb Cristnogol, ac yn yr eglwys, ac yn mynd i gyrddau gweddi boreol. Trwy roi Crist yn gyntaf, fe fendithiodd fi mewn meysydd eraill yn fy mywyd.

‘Peth amser yn ôl, roeddwn i gyda fy merch yn y parc. Roedd hi eisiau neidio oddi ar y ffrâm ddringo a dywedodd, “Rwyt ti'n mynd i fy nal, Dadi on’d wyt?” Daliais i hi. Teimlais Dduw yn dweud wrthyf, “Mae'n bryd iti neidio ac ymddiried ynof." Felly, gadewais fy swydd fel athro mathemateg, ar ôl 14 mlynedd yn y swydd. Rwy'n dibynnu ar yr adnod hon yn ddyddiol. Beth bynnag rydw i'n ei wneud nawr, credaf y gallaf gael llwyddiant oherwydd yr hyn y mae Duw yn ei wneud yn fy mywyd.

‘Dw i eisiau gwneud popeth! Mae tiwtora yn talu'r biliau, ond rydw i eisiau gwneud gwaith troslais ac rydw i wedi sefydlu stiwdio yn fy nhŷ.

‘Rwy’n bymtheg mis i mewn ac nid wyf wedi amau gallu Duw i ddarparu ar fy nghyfer ac nid wyf wedi amau ei fendith ar fy mywyd, a hyd yn hyn, mae wedi darparu. Rwy’n gwybod bod gan Dduw ei law ar fy mywyd, sy’n gysur a bendith ryfeddol, a dweud y gwir.’
