Awesome God

Something to read

You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with richness.

- Psalm 65:11 .

Something to think about

This song of David gives recognition and praise to the awesomeness of God as seen and experienced through the wonders of the diverse times, nature and seasons of our planet earth.

We get a sense of a balanced ecosystem, and from this viewpoint we’re motioned to join with all of creation to worship God our Creator, Saviour, and Provider in response.

I am reminded of the following lines in the wonderful hymn ‘Great is thy Faithfulness’, written by Thomas Chisholm:

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

The faithfulness of the Lord enables us to live in the assurance that our year, however it is measured, can be crowned with goodness in abundance.

Something to do

Make a bold and intentional effort to be actively involved in caring for creation.

Something to pray

Father God,
may our year be crowned
with your goodness in abundance
and may our head, heart and hands
be used to share in equal measure
with others in praise and thanksgiving
to you, our Creator.
