Bible Society: Reasons To Believe In The Power Of The Bible

‘One day in April 2004, my friends Vicky, Kim and I decided to go out for an ice cream because it was a hot day. Vicky was a new driver. She pulled out at a junction into a coach. Vicky died, Kim walked away with cracked ribs. I had a fractured skull and a fractured pelvis and was in a coma for 13 weeks.

‘During that time my parents read Philippians 1.6 which says, “And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the day of Christ Jesus”. My mum felt that God hadn’t finished with me yet, and wasn’t letting me go.

‘I had an experience of God during the time I was in the coma. He said, “You are not dying because I have plans for you.”

‘Before my accident I think my faith had gone. I was training to be a riding instructor and I didn’t go to church much at that time. The accident has brought my faith from nothing to everything. It made me get close to God and realise how much he could do.

‘My parents were told three times that I was dead. They were told that if I woke up I would never walk or talk.

‘I have forgotten the first 17 years of my life. But I haven’t forgotten how to ride. I still ride. I sing. I run. I live independently. God has done so much for me.’
