The beauty of God's world.

Something to read

Whoever finds me finds life and obtains favour from the Lord.

- Proverbs 8:35 from full reading Proverbs 8:32-9:6 .

Something to think about

These words are spoken by Wisdom, who has just been described as God’s master worker, at God’s side when the world was being created, watching as God shaped and ordered everything. Wisdom’s power comes from her deep understanding of the way the world is made – she knows how it all fits together.

There are many who experience the world as broken. The image of everything fitting together doesn’t make sense. Yet the beauty of God’s world is seen when God’s order establishes itself in situations of chaos – green shoots growing on bombsites, children playing in a refugee camp.

The work of Christian Aid is often about re-establishing the order of God’s world, making it possible for children to go to school or for people to access health care, or seeking to prevent and limit the damage of climate change.

We believe in a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. In this vision, we are aligning ourselves with God’s holy Wisdom and finding life for ourselves as well as for those we serve.

Something to pray

God, whose Wisdom shapes and directs the world,
help us to live by that Wisdom,
so that justice may be done
and your perfect vision for this world
may be made real.
Amen.
