The Injustice Advent Calendar Day 9
24 days to change the world
Day 9
Resist green colonialism
As more and more electric cars are produced, the demand for lithium and copper is expected to triple during this decade, having global socio-economic consequences, especially in affected communities.
We are launching the Formando Rutas audiovisual educational project on lithium mining in the Atacama Desert, the responsibility of car companies and solutions beyond the individual electric car. The climate solutions outlined by the interviewees in this docu-series are urgent if we are to build a sustainable climate future.
“Water in the desert is essential. If it disappears, we all disappear. It’s as simple as that.”
-Sonia Ramos, Desert defender
The action for today is simple - learn more about how communities are affected by lithium mining by watching a short video on green colonialism.
