Restore Broken Lives This Lent

Dear Friend,

Nadine knows brokenness only too well…

She lost her entire family. In her grief, she left her home and came to the Mbuti pygmy village where she now lives. The village lies on the edge of the Ituri Rainforest in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Life is hard for the Mbutis. They are one of the world’s oldest peoples and they’ve lived as hunter-gatherers for centuries. Now, with no land of their own they are stigmatised and exploited by bigger, stronger neighbouring tribes. Her family all live in a small hut, made of nothing but sticks and leaves.

Nadine works on a farm for another tribe. Sometimes she’s beaten by her employers. Often, the only thing she receives as payment is yams (a kind of sweet potato). She longs for the tools to do her own farming and give her family a future. Your gift could make that possible for men and women like her wherever the need is greatest throughout the world.

£44

could provide farming tools and seeds for six people, like Nadine, to begin growing their own food to protect their families from hunger.

Jesus gave everything to reconcile us to God, and our Lent appeal is aimed at restoring relationships, so that vulnerable people around the world can start to piece their lives together.

Tearfund is working with the Mbuti, but we can’t do any of this without your generous support.

We are determined to be part of the transforming work that God is doing in vulnerable communities like these around the world. Your gift could bring Jesus’ restoring power to people like the Mbuti pygmies.

I hope you are able to make a gift this Lent.

May God bless you this Lent,
