Cyclone Idai Appeal Update

Dear Friend,

Thank you to all of you who have prayed and given so far, our teams in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe have been greatly encouraged by the outpouring of generosity.

We wanted to give you an update about Cyclone Idai and its aftermath. We now have a clearer picture of the scale of destruction. It remains a huge unfolding disaster that has already severely affected 3 million people across southern Africa.

If you’ve already supported Tearfund’s appeal directly, or through the DEC, thank you. We are hard at work right now in the affected areas with local partners.

Despite challenging conditions, we are distributing essentials like food, clean drinking water, soap, mosquito nets and shelter in some of the most remote and hard to reach regions. But the situation is critical and the needs of survivors are vast:

* Around 400,000 people have lost their homes and desperately need emergency shelter.

* There is a serious risk of waterborne diseases including Cholera.

* The cyclone has destroyed the harvests of millions of people. They need food urgently and fresh seeds to plant for the next harvest.

Imagine the agony of losing everything and having no food or shelter to offer your family. This is an urgent race against time to save lives. If you give now there is so much your money can do.

May I ask you to continue to pray for all those whose lives have been devastated by Cyclone Idai. And please pray for everybody who is working tirelessly to reach people in the greatest need often in hazardous circumstances.

Thank you once again for your support at this critical time.

With every blessing,
