Lifewords Prayer July 14 - 20

Choose Life

In West Pokot, Kenya, Choose Life is creating a good environment for young people to thrive and develop. Through exploring biblical values, young people are being given the tools to choose a different path. Clara Ngobolia shares more:

* "Choose Peace has been empowering boys and girls who have grown up in the midst of tribal rivalry over cattle conflicts," says Clara. "This historic rivalry, where people are killed over the stealing of camels, goats, sheep and cows, is passed down from generation to generation. However, the boys and girls say that these booklets have opened their eyes to how they should treat each other in spite of what their parents and grandparents choose." Give thanks for the powerful words of the Bible that can change hearts and minds. Please pray for these young people that they will continue to grow in leadership, and that this conflict would come to an end.

* "Susan from the Komesi Women’s Group has used Choose Life to talk to girls at the rescue centre it runs. Here, they are working with girls who have been rescued from early marriage and who are recovering from female genital mutilation. "Issues of witchcraft are also prevalent in this area," says Clara. "The girls welcomed Choose Freedom with much excitement to help them deal with the tribal fears of practiced witchcraft in the areas of Kachelimba and Kongelai." Pray for these vulnerable young women, that they would find healing and rescue as they discover God’s love for them.

* "Choose Freedom has also been helping young women dealing with the trauma of early marriage. One girl who was rescued from an early marriage really wanted to read the booklet and find out how she can have her peace back. Another two girls are excited about the booklet and no longer live in fear." Please pray for the young people of West Pokot that they would feel empowered to know how to bring change to their communities as they move into adulthood, while also celebrating and embracing the aspects of their culture that reflect God’s love, care and hope.
