Sometimes It's Just Too Far

MAF airplanes land at some of the most remote places on the planet. The sound of one arriving in a distant village brings hope to people who are sick or hurting.

People like Obet.

Obet broke his leg when he fell from a tree. His friends had to carry him for four days across a valley in Papua, Indonesia to get to the nearest airstrip so he could be flown out for medical care.

Left: Obet secured for his flight. Right: Obet’s friends carried him from the right side of this valley to the airstrip up on the left side plateau.

Just imagine what that trek must have been likefour days of painful bumping and jarring for Obet, and four days of exhausted, aching muscles for his friends.

Every day, similar scenarios are playing out. People who face enormous obstacles have hope because of an MAF flight and the generosity of people like YOU!

Because of your compassion, and people like you, MAF flew nearly 3,000 medical flights last year. Some of those were lifesaving medevacs, others brought medicine or vaccines or carried medical personnel to remote clinics.

If these airplanes are not maintainedwe cannot meet the needs of the isolated people who depend on them.

Your gift <https://maf.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b8d8cac0789cabc74dee99dd1&id=b36a97f3ae&e=2f39e26182> ensures that our aircraft are fine-tuned and functioning safely. Because precious lives depend on them! Our airplanes need to be ready to respond when there’s an emergency.

By helping keep MAF airplanes maintained, you can change the life of someone like little Hagar, who was burned when a pot of boiling water spilled onto her upper leg and belly.

MAF brought Hagar and her dad from the village of Pagamba to the hospital in Nabire (Papua, Indonesia). And every day, the pilot’s wife, Anja, visited the girl and applied pure honey to her wounds to ease her pain.

Left: Here she is with her dad after their return flight to the village. Right: A little later with both parents and a younger sibling, bringing a gift of leeks for the pilot’s wife.

Will you join with us to keep our aircraft in top-working condition? By doing so, your gift is saving lives and making medical flights like these possible. You’ll bring hope where there is pain and suffering. Thank you!
