Tearfund: Enough - A New Start

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

I love this time of year. It gives us space to turn our eyes on Jesus. As the old 19th century hymn goes, ‘when we look full in his wonderful face the things of this world grow strangely dim’.

At times this is easier said than done and I wonder how difficult it must be for families who live in slums, surrounded by rubbish and waste, with no escape from the pollution all around. Knowing God’s heart, it’s clear that he wants so much more for them.

Nida is one of the countless mothers having to watch her children grow up in the slums of Pakistan, amid rubbish. The staff at Pak Mission Society, one of Tearfund’s partners, are hoping to employ Nida in their project to manage the waste in the slums giving her a way to provide for her family. This could mean a new start for Nida and her children.

Lord Jesus,

Like so many mothers who live in the slums, Nida desperately wants more for her children. We pray you bless the desires of her heart and enable her children and others to step into a better future in a cleaner, safer environment. Restore our world we pray.
