Compassion UK: Describe Yourself On A Good Day

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 30:17

If depression is something you genuinely struggle with, you’ll be all too familiar with feeling out of sorts, that sensation of losing yourself when the shadows fall over your mood. You can also become very self-critical.

I have found it very helpful to write a positive paragraph about myself while enjoying a good mental health day. It’s good to create that little reminder for yourself so that next time you’re feeling a little lost you can remind yourself what makes you happy.

Next time you’re bouncing around feeling good, write up a little praise review of your best self, knowing that God will restore you every time you fall down.

On a good day, are you playful? Funny? Do you listen when others speak and add great things to the conversation? Do you have a knack of making strangers feel comfortable? Write these things down so on days when you feel lost, you can be reminded of who you are in God and know that he will restore you fully in time.

Lord, thank you for the person that you’ve made me to be. On those days where I simply don’t feel like myself, help me to know that I’m safe with you. God, as I consider who I am when I’m in full health, I ask that you would restore me to my best self soon. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
