Tearfund Advent Calendar Day 23
Day 23: Christmas greeting from Nepal!
'Christmas in Nepal is a simple affair. Churches invite neighbours, friends and relatives to services which include singing, dancing, drama and sharing the gospel. Some of the churches in Kathmandu will invite political leaders and government officials to join them, to help strengthen ties and build relationships.
'After the service, members of the church prepare a delicious meal which everyone is welcome to share. In remote villages where budgets are more limited the meal will consist of rice, daal (lentils), chicken and pickles. In the cities, where the choice is more diverse, the meals will also include a variety of meats, salads and other vegetable dishes. Many families make a rice dish called a Polao which is traditionally eaten on special occasions.'
How does your church celebrate Christmas together? Is there someone you could invite to church with you? Pray that God will show you who you could invite to church this Christmas.
